• Do you offer a payment plan?

  Live Oak offers two payment options. The first requires that 10% of tuition is due with return of the enrollment agreement for the upcoming academic year, with the remaining 90% due before June 1. Live Oak also offers a multi-payment option with 10% of tuition due with the return of the enrollment agreement and nine equal payments due monthly from April 15 to December 15. This option requires an automatic checking account deduction which incurs a 1% fee and also requires Tuition Refund Insurance (.90% of tuition for the 26-27 school year).

• How is eligibility determined?

  Eligibility is based on economic need as determined by Clarity and adjusted for the cost of living in the Bay Area. Used by many independent schools, Clarity ensures that all requests are treated objectively by determining affordability based on information you provide including income, assets, debts, and number of children in tuition-charging schools. Tax returns will be received by Clarity directly from the IRS.

• How many students participate?

  Approximately 25% of Live Oak students participate in our Adjusted Tuition Program. Tuition levels are between $500 and 95% of full tuition.

• What about siblings?

  We are committed to keeping children of Live Oak in school together if siblings are academically appropriate for Live Oak. Clarity considers the number of children a family has in tuition-charging schools when determining affordability.

• What about single parents or divorced families?

  We require that all parents be responsible for the educational expense  of their children, to the extent

  that they are financially able. Live Oak requires financial information from all custodial parents, step-parents, and legal guardians of the student. If parents are divorced, separated, or have never been married, all parents (including step-parents) must apply. We take into consideration all of the applicant’s dependent children. A non-custodial parent may be required to submit IRS Form 8332. If the non-custodial parent is absent, documentation from the custodial parent may be required.

  
  Nosotros requerimos que todos los padres se hagan responsables por los gastos educacionales de sus hijos. Live Oak requiere información financiera de todos los padres responsables, padrastro, madrastra y de quien tenga custodia de su hija/o. Si los padres están divorciados, separados o no se han casado no importa, todos tienen que aplicar. Tomamos en consideración a todos los hijos dependientes del solicitante. Si un padre no tiene custodia puede ser que le pidamos entregar una forma llamada IRS 8332. Si la persona que tiene custodia no está presente entonces la documentación es obligatoria.

• What if only one parent works?

  Eligibility for the Adjusted Tuition program requires that  all custodial parents are working in an income producing capacity, unless they are taking care of young children in the home or if a parent has a disability or long term illness. A tuition adjustment is available for one year while a parent is actively seeking employment.

• What if we have a change in our financial situation?

  We work closely with families who experience unexpected financial adversity. If you experience a change for the better in your financial circumstances, we require you to contact us immediately for a review to your tuition adjustments.

• What other costs are covered by Adjusted Tuition?

  Tuition includes lunch, books and materials, lab fees, ipads, field trips and travel, yearbooks, and athletic uniforms. Extended Day Programs costs are adjusted  by a similar percentage as the tuition adjustment.

• When do we find out what our tuition will be?

  Your tuition level will be in your enrollment agreement (in March for new families and February for returning families).

• Will our tuition stay the same for our entire time at Live Oak?

  Families should expect yearly tuition increases that reflect normal rising operational expenses. But you can expect the level of adjustment to remain consistent so long as there are no changes in your financial circumstances. Eligibility for participation in the Adjusted Tuition Program is reassessed every year based on current financial information.

• Will we be expected to participate in school fundraising?

  Yes. We strive for 100% participation and support from Live Oak families in the Live Oak Fund and when the school is conducting capital campaigns. Each family is asked to make a donation that best suits them.
